Dashing through the Snow!
Storm Warnings: December 20th, 2016
The bantam Storm finished up the first half of the season on a positive note this past weekend. No, they didn’t win either one of the two games they played, the first one in Lloydminster on Saturday and then at home on Sunday against the other Lloydminster team, but they certainly have come a long way since the beginning of the year and are really getting good at chipping the puck out of their own end of the rink, and playing aggressive in the opposition zone of the rink too. These girls won’t go down without a fight and usually play a full 60 minutes. Of course there are times when they don’t give 100 percent, but these a few and far in between, usually lasting only 5 minutes at most. The Storm is starting to get close to 20 shots on net every game and that’s almost double what they had at the beginning of the year, and even scoring the odd goal, just like the rugged little defense woman peewee aged Jadey’ the Lady’ Capjack did on Sunday, when she sent a wrister top shelf from the slot, after getting set up on the point by the spark plug center Laramie ‘ Louis’ Parr. These girls are young but won’t be pushed around any more.
‘ Louis ‘ was one of the Storm Trooper of the game on Sunday. She’s not very big but plays an intense game for-checking and back checking.
Tandem defense partners ‘ Gorgeous Georgia ‘Bendixen and Jace’ jack Hammer’ Weidmark , also named as Storm troopers for their solid work moving the puck out of our end, the coaching staff having a tough time picking out just one player, in fact the whole team could have be named. The girls will now have a well deserved rest until the new year.
And now for the K. A Campbell quote of the week. ‘ Developing better people should be the number one goal for any coach when dealing with kids. In trying to develop better people we are going to develop more and better pros. ‘ – Bobby Orr
