Yield to Stop
New stop sign at the intersection of 57th avenue & 48 street Elk Point
Residents in the Town of Elk Point will now have to come to a full stop at the intersection of 57th avenue and 48th street in Elk Point after Town Council voted to put in a stop sign at the cross-way. Councillor for the Town of Elk Point, Lorne Young, says that Council was made aware that the intersection was increasingly busy and with only a yield sign was becoming dangerous.
“We want to make it more of a safe situation,” Councillor Young explains it was brought to the table following a resident reaching out to another Councillor worried about the safety of the intersection. “We brought it up at our Public Works meeting and [Director of Public Works] Jay (Duffee) said it would be a good idea.”
The sign will go from yield to stop over the next few weeks, with notice given to the public of the change.
