Storm Warnings: November 29th, 2016

No one likes to lose, but, at the end of the day what really matters is having fun. And the Storm bantam girls certainly are having fun.  And no one can deny that they are getting better each and every week.  A perfect example this past weekend when they travelled to Wainwright losing 4 to 0.  The last time the Storm played in Wainwright a few weeks ago, they lost 12 to 0. So, you must admit that’s quite of an improvement.

laramiePeewee aged player Laramee ‘Louis ‘ Parr was named the Storm Trooper of the game. She’s just like the energizer bunny, keeps on ticking. Fore checking and back checking on every shift. She’s not very big, especially against some of the second year bantams who are twice as tall and much heavier, but she is never intimated one bit.

On Sunday the Storm hosted the Lloydminster Mall team, losing this one as well.  A close game until the third period when the Storm finally powered out and had trouble clearing the zone.  But considering the Storm had two girls missing this past weekend, the Warawa sisters, Avery ‘Whirlwind, and Rylee ‘ the Rocket ‘ and played two complete 60 minutes games with only 9 skaters,  they still did very well.

Chloe ‘ Mouse’ Bendixen another one of our peewee aged players was the player of the game.  ‘ Mouse’ has been taking power skating every Friday after school and getting stronger every week. As her skating improves so does her confidence. She has never lacked the desire, and was terrific in Sundays game forechecking and driving to the net causing some major distractions for their goalie.

And now for the K. A Campbell quote of the week. ‘ I think everyone should experience defeat at least once during their career. You learn a lot from it.’ – Lou Holtz
