In baseball the National  and American leagues have inter league play during the season. . The fans really like it because they can see an all star player live that they may otherwise never get to see. play. This year the North East Alberta Hockey League has teamed up with some of the other leagues and created some inter league action. It’s good to play some other teams  once in a while instead of the same old rivalries and also a very good way for the coaching staff to see how a team may do in the provincials. Sometimes in the round robin teams meet up against another team in the zone that play in a different league and are shocked how good they are..

Right after the Remembrance Day ceremonies on Friday the bantam Avalanche team traveled to play a little inter league action down in Daysland.  Daysland is well known for its Senior hockey teams as being tough and talented and it appears the same is true of their minor league teams. The bantams losing this one 4 to 3.  Dallas `Cowboy`Bristow, Jaden `Jet Stream`Van Maarion and `Lightning Liam `Ludlage scoring for the Avalanche. . Charlie `the Angel`Rogal with three assists, his brother Hank the Tank`with one.

But it would seem Charlie the `Angel` is not an angel after all,   getting ejected from the game for three stick infractions up in Cold Lake on Sunday. The bantams still coming home with the two point win,. Wolke`Wolfman`Cueva with two goals, Jet Stream, Lightning, `Silent Sam` and sister `Raging Paige`Henderson , and the stay at home steady defenseman Jace`the Stafford Streak` all with one goal each.   `King Cole` Bendixen with an assist and three trips to the sin bin. It appears he`s no angel either!!!

Head coach Robyn Moroziuk and his peewee Avalanche team was feeling pretty chipper on Saturday,  finally shaking the monkey off their back, the peewee Avalanche winning  their first game of the year against Boyle 10 to 8. Four goals and four assists for `Mic Jager`Fontaine, two goals for the big towering defenseman with a wicked low under the radar slap shot,  Odin `the Wall `Smith.  The rookie up from the Atom farm team, `King Kong Konnor` Poitras with two goals and two assists, the point a game veteran  team captain Kobe`the Cobra`Warawa with a goal and an assist. `Wild Wyatt`Pavoll finding the twine with one too.  Rugged D Man Josef `Red`Theriault with a couple of assists, his partner in crime CeaJay Quinney also on the board with an assist. A terrific game for goalie Vanden `Super Mario` Moroziuk who closed the door in the last few minutes when Boyle really put the pressure on trying to tie this one up. Not quite as much luck  on Sunday when the peewee team traveled up to Plamondon losing this one . The `Wall` with a hat trick and an assist, `Mic Jager`with two goals and two assists , `Wild Wyatt` with a helper too. ,Landon `the Magnificent `Malachowski with the heart and hustle award in this one. Brady `the Bionic Man `Hymanyk and `Bazooka Joe`Cardinal both giving a good solid effort.

Two for the show! The midget boys won their second game in a row in fine fashion this past Saturday night at home with a 5 to 1 win over Mannville. Another great game for their leader `Captain Obvious `Austin Stafford taking charge again leading his troops into battle scoring the first two goals, slippery Nick `Sparky `Anderson with a goal and an assist, the monster Brody `the Big O`Odgaard and free wheeling defenseman Hayden `Hot Wheels` Ludlage with a goal each. Two assist for the `Heinsberg Kid`, Kyle `Ketchup` Kjenner. Stay at home defenseman Cyle `the Grinder `Graus and speedy left winger Chad `Pick Pocket` Poitras each picking up an assist. Not only did the goalie Spenser `Fortress` Hardcastle play superbly  making 43 save on the night and allowing only one goal, he also assisted on the late last minute goal by `Hot Wheels`.

The high rolling Atom Avalanche team are undefeated so far this year winning their forth and fifth games on Saturday and Sunday easily by a huge margin. But the one thing head coach James Capjack always stresses is to pass the puck and give everyone a chance to score, especially in games like this. Way too many goals and assist to list them all here but I will pick out some of the rookies getting their first of the year including `Top Gunner` Crawford, Gavin `Giver `Kadutski, Timmy Joe`Cardinal, `Bo Diddley`Fontaine and `Kid Kade`Fontaine who normally is in net as their number one goalie.  Rookie back up `Cyclone Cole`Pierce strapping on the big pads was behind the mask in Sundays match  against Plamondon. Stay at home defenseman Brendon `Blue Line `Haesch -Baker keeping the traffic clear in front of the net.

Not really a good time for the novice 1B goalie `Good Time Charlie`Lesyk  who faced so much rubber in Saturday`s game at home against Bonnyville, he should  have been called `Goodyear Charlie`.  His brother Braylee`BJ`Lesyk was the only goal scorer for the Avalanche. Ryley `the Coyote`Bourne and Brendan Kadutski also both played a solid game.

The novice 1 A team faired much better in Frog Lake on Saturday winning 9 to 6 Madden `Mad Dog`Flamand and Sebastian Brousseau each with a hat trick, `Hurricane Kayl`Warawa with two goals, and Ella Ballas with a single. Her brother `Notorious Nolan `with two assists, Spencer Malachowski and Wyatt Earp`Fontaine each with an assist. Goalie `Without a Trace` Morgan not flinching one bit after getting some wicked shots fired at him.

And now for the K.A. Campbell quote of the week, ‘ you can motive players better with kind words than you can with a whip.’  -Bud Wilkinson
