Glendon Arena Goes online to Raise Funds for new Plant

The Glendon Arena is in need of a new ice plant to keep the arena operating. Seeing that the Village is quite small and funds for a new ice plant are hard to come by, the Agricultural Society decided to take the campaign online, to fundrazr.com. The website uses crowd funding to help raise money for various charities and organizations.
According to the Fundrazr page, the Ag Society needs $461,500 to replace the ice plant. They are off to a fairly good start, after receiving some money prior to the online campaign from the Village and the Municipal District (MD) of Bonnyville. “Our fundrasing efforts and the support of our village and municipality has provided us with a starting point of $218,000. We are, therefore, asking the public to help us raise the balance of $243,500. 100% of the money raised goes to the purchase and installation of a new ice plant.”
The arena, which was built in 1974 has been “limping along with a band-aid repaired ice plant.” The plant is used for both the arena and the curling rink; so two popular community sports are in jeopardy of becoming extinct in the community if money to replace the plant is not secured. “The arena is the sole winter hub in our community for our youth.”
“Our goal is to have the new ice plant ready for the 2017-18 season,” donations big or small are welcome at https://fundrazr.com/c1B3l3.
