Bonnyville RCMP charge man with second degree murder

On Sept. 5, 2016 a 32-year-old male from the Kehewin First Nations was assaulted and sustained serious life threatening injuries. Through their initial investigation and with the assistance from the Edmonton General Investigation Section, the Bonnyville RCMP identified a suspect. Jordan Hector Soloway, a 29-year-old from Elk Point was arrested on Sept. 28, 2016 and charged with Aggravated Assault.

The 32-year-old male victim succumbed to his injuries while in hospital and was pronounced deceased on Oct. 17, 2016. An autopsy was conducted at the office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton and additional tests are pending.

Members along with the RCMP Major Crimes Unit from Edmonton (MCU) have consulted with the Crown and charged Soloway with second degree murder. He remains in custody and is scheduled to attend Bonnyville Provincial court on Nov. 1, 2016.
The name of the victim will not be released.

As this matter is now before the courts, there will be no further updates in relation to this investigation

Background
