Education Minister Eggen Celebrates CLES Grand Opening

The Honourable David Eggen was on hand to official open the new Cold Lake Elementary School

Northern Lights Public Schools celebrated the new Cold Lake Elementary School with an official Grand Opening ceremony today.  Education Minister David Eggen spoke at the Grand Opening and cut the ribbon to officially open the new school, which has been in operation since September.
“Today we are not only celebrating a new school for our students, we are celebrating a wonderful new facility for our whole community,” said Board Chair Mandi Skogen. “The
community involvement at Cold Lake Elementary has always been amazing and the new school will just further enhance opportunities for the school and community to work together.”
Skogen also provided a special commendation to the members of the Division’s maintenance department who worked tirelessly over the summer to ensure the school would be ready for students in September in addition to the work they completed at other schools across the Division.

“We often don’t realize the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to prepare a new school for students,” said Skogen. “Our staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was in place for staff and students when they returned to school and they deserve huge accolades for what they have accomplished.”

The new Cold Lake Elementary School is located at 803 – 16 Avenue in Cold Lake North. It offers programming to approximately 480 students in Kindergarten to Grade 4, as well as a Care to Learn Preschool program to children ages 3 and 4.
