LCSD offers Free Busing at 1km

Board approves free busing for students outside a 1 kilometre radios

Lakeland Catholic School District (LCSD) will offer free busing for students who live outside of a one kilometre radios of the school they are attending. Communications Officer, Amanda Wildman sent out a press release confirming the board’s motion to reduce the free busing radios from 2.4 kilometres to 1.

“A motion was made to amend the previously passed busing fees motion approved in May 2016, so students who live 1 kilometer or further from their school will now get free busing.” Wildman explains the Provincial requirement is to allow for free busing for students who live further than 2.4 kilometres; however the LCSD Board decided to set their own standards. “This is a change from the previous 2.4 kilometer requirement.”

Wildman confirmed that the entire Board was behind the decision, “the motion was approved unanimously by the Board of Trustees at an August 25th Special Board Meeting.”
Any parents who are affected by this policy change, and who have paid transportation fees, will be reimbursed in full within the coming month. “We look forward to continuing to provide a quality transportation system to the students in Lakeland Catholic School District in the 2016-2017 school year,” states Wildman.
