Construction has begun at Kinosoo Beach, expanding the services available for the public.
“We’re very excited to add in some great facilities to the beach,” said Mayor Craig Copeland. “This work is another big step forward for the vision we laid out in the Kinosoo Beach Master Plan.”
Contractors started setting up on Aug. 3, with most of the work to begin on Monday, Aug. 8. Included in the expanded facilities will be a new multi-surface court, two beach volleyball courts, extended beach area, and a new bandstand. These new facilities are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
For these long-term gains, the public will unfortunately see much of the west end of the beach closed temporarily while construction takes place. These include: the overflow parking off Tamarack Street; the west side of the beach; volleyball courts; basketball courts; gazebo, and the play structure.
Future plans also include new angle parking along Tamarack Street, including designated accessible parking spots.
The public is advised to give workers space, and to adhere to any posted construction signs.
