RCMP Respond to Shots Fired on Cold Lake First Nations
On July 24th, at approximately 5:00 pm, the Cold Lake RCMP received a complaint of three shots fired at a residence on Cold Lake First Nations. With the assistance of Bonnyville RCMP, and St. Paul Traffic Control, the Cold Lake RCMP Detachment was able to respond and isolate the situation. The RCMP evacuated neighbours and were able to take the suspect into custody without any injuries.
Along with the suspect, there were two other persons in the house at the time of the incident, one of the persons were under 18 years of age. Sgt. Troy Hadland with the Cold Lake Detachment says, “there was no threat to anyone else. Everyone involved in the situation knew each other.” This is believed to be an isolated incident.
A 42 year old male from Cold Lake was arrested and appeared in court on July 26th. Due to the nature of the crime and the age of one of the victims, the name of the suspect has not been released at this time.
