31 yr old Arrested after Assault outside O2
Cold Lake RCMP responded to a call that a man had been assaulted outside O2’s Bar just before 2:00 am. The assailant had left the scene before RCMP could respond and the victim had been transported to the hospital with severe, non-life threatening, injuries.
RCMP attended the hospital where the victim was at, “the victim sustained extensive injuries,” explains S/Sgt Jeremie Landry with the Cold Lake RCMP Detachment. With the help of footage from inside the bar, and the victim’s statement, it was determined that there was an argument between the men inside the bar. According to the victim’s account, the suspect asked him to go outside, “once outside, and in an alley, the arrested party struck the victim in the face; which caused the victim to fall down to the ground. The victim was hit repeatedly by kicks and knees, while he was down on the ground. He was able to break free and call 911.”
With the assistance of military police, RCMP arrested a 31 year old male. “Charges are pending for assault causing bodily harm.” The man was released on a promise to attend court on August 24th at 10:00 am. Since charges are pending, the identity of the man arrested could not be revealed.
