Cold Lake Serial Exposer Sentenced

36 year old Richard David Butt has been sentenced to 12 months suspended sentence with probation after being found guilty of five counts of performing an indecent act. The sentencing comes after Butt was charged for a series of incidents that happened in Cold Lake stores between May and September of 2015.

S/Sgt. Jeremie Landry, with the Cold Lake RCMP Detachment, explains that when a person is given a suspended sentence with probation it means, “if he re-offends he can be charged with the new offenses, as well as sentenced on the old charges.”

As part of Butt’s probation he is not allowed in the five locations he was caught performing indecent in. Butt also had to submit a DNA sample.
