An Elk Point Youth & Bonnyville Man arrested following B&E at JD Collision Cold Lake

On July 7th, the Cold Lake RCMP Detachment received a complaint of two individuals being seen on camera, inside the fenced area of JD Collision. RCMP attended, two males ran from the yard into the field, says S/Sgt Jeremie Landry, of the Cold Lake RCMP Detachment, “RCMP gave foot chase and apprehended the individuals and arrested both those who had fled.”

A 14 year old male, from Elk Point, was arrested. Charges of with breaking and entering, as well as, mischief under $5000 and possession of break-in instruments, are pending. The youth was released on conditions to have no contact with the co-accused, not to attend JD Collision, and a promise to attend court on August 24th at 10:00 am in Cold Lake. The youth cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

An 18 year old male, from Bonnyville, was arrested and released on conditions to appear at Court the same date and to have no contact with the co-accused, and not to attend JD Collision. The male cannot be named because at the time of this publication charges had not been laid; however he is facing charges of break and enter, mischief under $5000 and possession of break-in instruments.

S/Sgt Jeremie Landry explains that when adults are caught committing crimes with youths there are no specific charges in the criminal code, however it can be a deciding factor at sentencing. “There’s no specific charge, necessarily for that, but it’s definitely something the courts take into consideration at the time of sentencing.”
