Scott Cyr’s Message: June 28th
Canada Day is almost upon us as we get another year older. To be precise, as a nation we are 149 years old. As a country we have a lot to be proud of. Every time I sing our national anthem, O Canada, I feel the history that resonates through our Canadian heritage.
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
As I sing our song on Canada day I for one will be thinking of our heritage that started with our fore fathers Sir John A. Macdonald, Alexander Mackenzie, Sir John Abbott and others who forged Canada through their service as Prime Ministers. They all set the course that we now travel down.
Like any new country we have had our struggles, but we also have had our successes. Many successes. We need to focus on how far we have come. This brings me to why I am writing the article.
I truly believe in Canada, I truly believe in Alberta and I truly believe in our homes in the Bonnyville – Cold Lake Constituency.
We are going through some hard times right now, but we will get through them as we have always been able to. With oil nearing $50 per barrel we can already see that with the coming of another year for Canada we can start a new outlook on what is to come. I am optimistic that this upcoming year we will see more investment as the price of oil rises and we can look forward to Canada’s 150th birthday next year.
Like Canada we will also have much to be proud of here in our constituency. On July 1, I, Megan and our 2 daughters, Amelia and Charlotte, will be enjoying the Canada Day celebrations. On this day I encourage everyone to join me and sing our national anthem, all the while remembering all our past successes and look to the future where we will create new great memories. I look forward to seeing everyone there and wish everyone a HAPPY CANADA DAY!
