2 Men Arrested after Man & Woman Shot; 1 Suspect Remains at Large

On June 14, 2016, at approximately 1:30 a.m. Pierceland RCMP were called to a report of an adult male and adult female being shot on the Big Island Lake Cree Territory.  A Short time later Cold Lake RCMP located the suspect vehicle in the City of Cold Lake and attempted a traffic stop.  The suspects failed to stop for Cold Lake RCMP and a pursuit was initiated which proceeded down Township Road 630 back into Saskatchewan.  The suspect vehicle a short distance past the Saskatchewan border lost control and entered the ditch.

3 suspects fled from the scene with 2 of them being quickly arrested by Cold Lake RCMP.  One suspect remains at large at this time.  20 year old Adam Mohamed Elmi of Edmonton has been charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault, 2 counts of using a firearm in the commission of an offence, 2 charges of discharging a firearm with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm, 3 counts of failing to comply with a recognizance and operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by police.

26 year old Amin Ali Yussuf of Edmonton has been charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm while prohibited, unauthorized possession of a firearm and operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by police.

Adam Mohamed Elmi remains in custody and appears at Meadow Lake Provincial Court by CCTV on July 4, 2016, at 09:30 a.m.  Amin Ali Yussuf also remains in custody and appears at Meadow Lake Provincial Court by CCTV on June 27, 2016, at 9:30 a.m.  Both victims were treated in hospital for their injuries.  The female victim has since been released and the male victim remains in hospital with serious injuries.
