Rash of Vehicle Thefts in Cold Lake

The Cold Lake RCMP Detachment has experienced a “rash of vehicle thefts”. In a six day period, between May 20th and May 26th, seven vehicles and two motorcycles were reported stolen. Police are reminding citizens to be vigilant in locking vehicles, not leaving valuables in vehicles, and just being aware of your surroundings. Should you notice any suspicious behaviour, do not approach, call 911.

Two of the vehicle thefts occurred on May 22nd at JD Collision. Sometime between 12:00 am and 4:00 am, two vehicles were stolen from the compound. A suspect has been identified; however the investigation is ongoing.

The remaining five incidents occurred in various locations; including 47th street, two on 50th avenue, Lake Ridge Close, and Lakeshore Drive. The theft on Lakeshore Drive was at the Marina, where a truck with boat trailer was stolen. Both truck and trailer were later located. The remaining four stolen vehicles were a GM Accadia, Ford F350, Ford F250, and an early 1990 model GM pickup. No specifics as to colour or model year were given at this time.
