Bob Marcyniuk: Living with MS
In anticipation for the Lakeland MS Walk on Saturday, May 7th, LCN will highlight a person in the Lakeland living with Multiple Sclerosis. The article has not been altered from the author’s original content:
It has been my goal, every year, to participate & raise funds for those in our local community who are affected by the disease. – Bob Marcyniuk
It seems everyone that is part of the walk has been affected, in some way, by multiple sclerosis. For me, getting involved was my way of showing support for my brother, who has MS. I have been a volunteer with the Lakeland Jayman Built MS Walk since its start in 2008, after my neighbour approached me about getting involved. Since then, it has been my goal every year to participate and raise funds for those in our local community who are affected by the disease.
However, it is my passion for wood working that has provided me with my greatest sense of pride and accomplishment in helping end MS. Each year I contribute works to the silent auction. Last year, in conjunction with Corey and Larissa at Monster Metalz, we made an MS rocking chair that was raffled off. It was an amazing feeling knowing something I created, with my own hands, was going back to help people in my local community – that is what keeps me coming back, and that is why I participate.
The Jayman Built Lakeland MS Walk is Saturday, May 7th. For more information on volunteering, sponsorships, and participation, visit mswalks.ca
