Darcy Skarsen, President of Bonnyville Minor Hockey Association (BMHA) reports that the 2015-16 regular season went very well for all the young players. BMHA is looking forward to the excitement of the post-season, and hosting the Atom AA Provincial Tournament, March 17-20th at the Centennial Centre.

BMHA reports that three teams have made it to Provincial Tournaments, including the Atom AA team. Hockey Alberta, allows the host team a by into the Provincial Tournament, however that was not necessary, the Atom AA team was successful in winning the league playdowns.

The Atom girls are the Zone 2 Champions and are headed to Provincials in Innisfail. The Bantam Girls were the Wildcard and received a berth into Provincials, hosted in Hinton. Both tournaments will be played out March 17-20th.

 

Here’s a list of the BMHA teams and their regular season results, as well as, post-season results to date: 

NEAHL  (North East Alberta Hockey League) – (win – loss – tie in brackets)

All boys teams from Atom to Midget play in this league. Novice and Initiation play exhibition games and tournaments throughout the season. 

Atom 3 – (7-4-4) Finished 2^nd in tier 3 North Division.  Begins playoffs with series against Cold Lake

Atom 2 – (7-11-3) Finished 6^th in Tier 1B Division. Out of playoffs

Atom 1 – (16-1-1) Finished 1^st in Tier 1A Division. Begins playoffs with series against Cold Lake

Peewee 2 – (9-10-1) Finished 4^th in Tier 3 North Division. Begins playoffs with series against Cold Lake.

Peewee 1 – (5-18-1) Finished 8^th in Tier 1 Division. Out of playoffs

Bantam 2 – (7-13-0) Finished 4^th in Tier 3 Division. Begins playoffs with series against Frog Lake

Bantam 1 – (6-9-5) Finished 4^th in Tier 1 division. Begins playoffs with series against Vermillion.

Midget 1 – (2-16-2) Finished 5^th in Tier 2 North Division. Out of playoffs

 

ECAHL (East Central Alberta Hockey League

The Lakeland Jaguars are girls teams built with players from Bonnyville and Cold Lake and each team participates in the ECAHL

Atom – (12-0-0) Finished 1^st in Division. Begins playoffs with series against Glendon

Peewee – (14-4-2) Finished 2^nd in Division. Begins playoffs with 1^st round bye

Bantam – (8-11-1) Finished 4^th in Division. Begins playoffs with series against Lloydminster

Midget – (14-2-2) Finished 1^st in Division. Begins playoffs with 1^st round bye.

 

Provincials Playdown results:

Each team decides if they want to participate in Provincial playdowns, it is open for Atom and up.  The winners from each zone represent their zone at the Provincial tournament.

Atom 3 – 1^st round loss to Elk Point

Atom 2 – 3^rd round loss to St. Paul

Atom 1 – AA Minor Zone 2 Champions as well as hosts – Provincial tournament in Bonnyville
