Canadiens Lead Series 2-1 over the Rangers
The St. Paul Jr B Canadiens are in Vegreville tonight for Game 4 of Round 1 of the playoffs. The Canadiens head to Veg with a 2-1 series lead, Head Coach Joe Young says he remains confident with the knowledge that anything can happen in the post-season.
Heading off to evening practice, Young says the squad will skate Thursday to keep the energy levels up for Fridays’ game. “It’ll probably be a really quick skate, get the guys on the ice and have a little bit of fun. This time of year there’s a few things you can work, but coming off a loss, we just wanna get the legs loose and get ready for Friday night.” The Canadiens took both games at home, 7-3 and 4-2, before suffering a 3-1 loss in Veg.
“It’s playoff hockey and anything can happen. It’s never going to be easy, they made the playoffs for a reason.” Young says the Rangers goalie was on fire for Game 3, “we ran into a really good goalie, who made some really good plays. I think, for the most part, we out-played them, but sometimes five or six minutes in a hockey game can determine the outcome. I like.the way we played last night, we had a ton of great chances, just one of those games where it wasn’t happening for us.”
Wednesday loss might make the squad a little more desperate for the win, Young says that isn’t a bad thing, “you gotta be a little more desperate, go to the net harder. We’ve scored a lot of goals this season, so I know it’s there. Just a matter of getting that confidence back.”
“I like our position being up 2-1, it’s better than being down,” laughs Young, “we just need to take one out of their building and bring it home to hopefully close it.” Game 5 will be at the Clancy Richard Arena Saturday evening at 8:00 pm.
