On January 9th, 2016 at approximately 10:30 AM, a Constable with the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment conducted a traffic stop with a Blue GMC Sierra for not having mud flaps. During the traffic stop it was learned that the male driver, a 34 year old resident of Kehewin, AB, was currently suspended for driving.
The male was arrested and transported to the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment where he was later released on court compelling documents to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on Feb 23rd, 2016 for charges of Driving while Prohibited and Failing to Comply with Conditions.
On January 10th, 2016 at approximately 11:30 AM, a Bonnyville RCMP Constable was making patrols in Kehewin, AB when they observed a truck with the licence plate obscured. A traffic stop was initiated with the vehicle and police checks on the driver, a 40 year old male resident of Kehewin, AB, was suspended from driving and was wanted by Edmonton Police Service.
The male was arrested and later released with court compelling documents to appear in Edmonton, AB and Bonnyville Provincial Court for a new charge of Driving while Prohibited. The vehicle was towed and seized for 30 days.
On January 11th, 2016 at approximately 6:30 PM, the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment received a complaint of a domestic dispute at a residence in Kehewin, AB. Police were advised that the male suspect had fled the residence. During the course the police investigation the male, a 52 year old resident of Kehewin, AB, was located driving a red Ford Truck and a traffic stop was initiated. At this point the 52 year old male was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and transported to the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment where he provided samples of his breath well over the legal limit.
During both the Impaired and Domestic Assault investigation police obtained evidence to charge the 52 year old male with Assault, Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle over 80, Driving while Prohibited along with 3 charges under the Traffic Safety Act. The male remains in police custody after refusing to speak to a Justice of the Peace regarding his detention.
