Bonnyville RCMP Give Final Warning for Equipment Violations

With 2016 just around the corner, the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment will continue with focused enforcement of equipment related violations including but not limited to: mud flaps, tint, altered coloured lights, seatbelt infractions and muffler modifications. Violation tickets for these offences can range from $78 to over $400 per offence along with the expectation that the equipment regulation issue be rectified.

Mud flaps must cover the width of the tire and must reach at least down to the center of the tire.  After- factory tint applied to the front driver’s side or passenger side windows, even if applied by a professional business, is in contravention of the provincial regulations and must be removed. Vehicle lights should all be in working order and should not be any colour other than factory standards. Mufflers should not be modified to produce extra/ excessive noise.

The RCMP wants to encourage motorists who currently have an equipment violation to pro-actively repair the issue before potentially being pulled over by the police.
