Cold Lake RCMP responded to a report of a suicidal male with a gun near the Rodeo Grounds in Cold Lake at approximately 10:50 a.m. today.

The male was located, there was a discharge of a firearm by the male and he was pronounced dead at the scene.  No shots were fired by the RCMP and there have been no other injuries sustained by any other person.  The scene has been secured by the RCMP and there exists no public danger.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is attending in accordance with their mandate to effectively, independently, and objectively investigate incidents involving Alberta’s police that have resulted in serious injury or death to any person as well as sensitive allegations of police misconduct.
