Cold Lake Man Accused in Homicide Investigation to Stand Trial

On August 5, 2015, Tyler Arsenault appeared in Cold Lake Provincial Court and was committed to stand trial on charges of Manslaughter and Indignity to a Human Body in relation to the death and disappearance of 44 year-old Dennis Lenord Cardinal.

In December 2011, RCMP received a complaint that Dennis Cardinal was missing.  The investigation into Cardinal’s disappearance was conducted by the “K” Division KARE Historical Homicide Unit (HHU).  RCMP investigators were able to confirm that at the time of his disappearance, Cardinal was living at a residence in Cold Lake with Tyler Arsenault and that he was murdered between December 20, 2010 and January 5, 2011.  The four year investigation into Cardinal’s murder and disappearance culminated in charges being laid against Tyler Arsenault on July, 23, 2014 when he appeared in the courthouse in Cold Lake.

S/Sgt. Jeremie Landry, detachment commander of the Cold Lake RCMP detachment, acknowledged the efforts of the HHU and other RCMP investigators involved in this case: “Regardless of the passage of time, the RCMP is committed to never forgetting about victims of violent crime, with our goal to bring these historical crimes before the courts for prosecution.”

Tyler Arsenault is scheduled to be arraigned on September 14, 2015 in relation to the Manslaughter and Indignity to a Human Body charges at which time a trial date will be determined.
