Deanna Fakeley

It is with profound sadness & broken hearts that we announce the passing of Deanna Fakeley on September 21, 2026 at the age of 82 years. She was a deeply loved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin & friend. Deanna was the beloved daughter of the late Carl Nelson and Olive Nelson (Gallagher). She loved her parents dearly and carried the memories of them and the life they shared close to her heart. She treasured her sister, cousins, and extended family, and the bonds she created with those she loved meant so much to her. Family was everything to Deanna. She loved her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchild with all her heart. She was proud of her family and found some of her greatest happiness in being surrounded by the people she loved. The memories made around kitchen tables, during family gatherings, through laughter, stories,
and everyday moments are memories that will be treasured forever. Deanna had a heart for caring for others. She dedicated decades of her life to nursing, a career that was so much more than a job to her. Caring for people was part of who she was. She gave her time, knowledge, compassion, and kindness to countless people throughout her career. She also became a First Aid Instructor, taking pride in teaching others the skills and confidence to help someone when they needed it most.

Those who knew Deanna knew that her caring nature extended far beyond her profession. She had a way of making people feel cared for and loved. She gave so much of herself to others and leaves behind a lifetime of memories and countless people whose lives were touched by her.

Deanna is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Gordon; son, Carl (Jennifer); daughters, Gayle & Melanie (Trevor); 10 grand-daughters, Kathryn, Sofia (Ariel), Emily, Clare, Amanda (Brett), Stephanie (Mason), Seanna-Joye (Tanner), Olivia Rose (Drew), Julia (Emma) & Cassandra; 4 great-grandchildren, Clark, Kate, Barrett, Nico & one on the way; sister, Donna Burnet; numerous nieces & nephews. Deanna was predeceased by her parents, Carl & Olive Nelson; in-laws, Vera & Alfred Fakeley; and son-in-law, Albin Leaf. Deanna will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known and loved her. Her absence will be felt in the quiet moments, family gatherings, celebrations, and in all the little things that will forever remind us of her.
Although our hearts are broken that she is no longer here, we find comfort in knowing that the love she gave us does not leave with her. It remains in her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, her family, and in every person whose life she touched.
She was loved deeply.
She gave love freely.
And she will be missed more than words can ever express.

You will forever be loved, forever be missed, and forever be a part of us.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Allied Arts Centre, Elk Point with Pastor Kelly Sibley officiating. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be in Ferguson Flats Cemetery at a later date.
