Dave was born in Paradise Hill, Sask. on Feb. 27, 1967 to Martin and Lyla Salzl.  He was the youngest of six children.  He grew up on the Salzl farm and after graduation he moved to Bonnyville, Alberta to find a career in the oil industry.  He had a successful career as a field operator for over 3 decades.  On June 10, 1995 Dave married the love of his life Jannet Boast and they shared an incredible love story for 35 years.  They loved spending time in “paradise” – La Quinta, California and were fortunate enough to spend the last 18 years there for vacations (and 4 of those years as snowbirds).

Dave left us far too soon and frankly, we’re still trying to figure out how someone with so much energy, personality and life could possibly be gone.

Dave was 59 years young and lived life the way Dave did everything – ALL IN!!

Known to many as “Salty”, Dave was one of those guys who could walk into a room and somehow make it more fun.  He had a wicked sense of humour, a huge heart and a way of making people feel like they had known him forever.  He was the guy you could count on, the guy who would help when you needed him and the guy who could turn an ordinary day into a story you’d still be laughing about years later.

Dave loved sports and baseball became his main passion for over 3 decades.  The Dupre Baseball Team had a brotherhood like no other.  He truly loved each teammate and the bond was undeniable.  Over the last few years, Dave also took up pickleball and enjoyed this new sport immensely, especially the new friendships and camaraderie of his teammates.

Dave loved to play, loved to laugh and if there was a good time to be had, Dave was probably already there!

Dave and Jannet weren’t just husband and wife; they were best friends and truly each other’s person.  The love they shared was obvious to everyone who knew them.

Dave had a way of making memories without even trying.  The stories, the laughs, the ridiculous moments, the good times and the “you had to be there” moments – there will never be another Salty.

He leaves behind a lot of people who loved him, who will miss him and probably a few who are still wondering who’s going to keep everyone in line now that he’s gone.

We’ll remember the laughs, the stories, the friendship, the crazy nights, games, drinks and all the moments that became the BEST memories.

And most of all we’ll remember a man who loved hard, laughed often, helped others and made life more fun simply by being in it.

Dave was one of a kind, impossible to replace and loved more than he probably realized!!

Rhoades (Joe), Jody Rammel (Tash), Darren Ross (Lanae), Ryan Ross, Sarah Meade (Ryan), Angela Hernandez (Victor), Jonathan Pearson (Megan), Jason Wear, Matthew Wear (Laura); Dave will also be remembered by his large circle of dear friends & extended family.

Dave was predeceased by his father: Martin Salzl; sister: Lynn Rammel; parents-in-law: John & Rita Boast; niece: Christina Rammel.
