The St. Paul Affordable Community Housing Society (SPACH) is celebrating another milestone as construction begins on its second Beta House and looks ahead to its next major affordable housing project.

The organization says Beta House #2 is now under construction, marking another step forward in its mission to provide affordable housing in the community. SPACH credits the support of local residents, businesses and organizations for helping make the project possible.

“The community has come through in a big way. Thank you for your support!” the society said in an announcement.

With construction underway, SPACH is already turning its attention to the future. The society has set an ambitious goal of building the Gamma Townhouse Project, a four-unit development planned for 2028. A conceptual rendering of the project shows a modern four-unit townhouse development planned for a site on 51 Avenue in St. Paul.

To help raise funds for the next phase, the St. Paul & District Chamber of Commerce has selected SPACH as a beneficiary of this year’s Rodeo Kick-Off Party, taking place on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at the St. Paul Recreation Centre.

The evening will feature food, entertainment and a silent auction, with a portion of the proceeds supporting SPACH’s future housing projects.

Community members can support the fundraiser in several ways, including:

• Purchasing an individual ticket for $65 (members) or $75 (non-members).
• Booking a table of eight for $500 (members) or $595 (non-members).
• Donating an item for the silent auction.
• Displaying the event poster in their business or workplace.

SPACH says community support has been key to getting affordable housing projects off the ground and hopes the upcoming fundraiser will help move the Gamma Townhouse Project from concept to reality over the next two years.
