FULL-TIME SHIFT ATTENDANT

Wah Pow Healing Lodge is seeking a dependable and professional Full-Time Shift Attendant to provide security, safety, and support services for clients, visitors, staff, and property. This position plays an essential role in maintaining a safe and secure environment while promoting positive relationships and supporting the Lodge’s daily operations.

The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, strong communication skills, and the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
  • Alberta Security License
  • Valid Class 4 Driver’s License with Driver’s Abstract
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • TDG Certification
  • WHMIS Certification
  • Minimum of 2 years sobriety
  • Ability to complete annual Criminal Record and Child Welfare Checks

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous security experience
  • Experience working within a First Nation community
  • Community involvement or volunteer experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Surveillance & Access Control (30%)

  • Monitor and control access to the facility
  • Conduct regular security patrols throughout the property
  • Ensure the safety and security of all areas
  • Supervise clients and conduct luggage searches during intake

Emergency Response & Safety (20%)

  • Respond to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents
  • Address conflicts and de-escalate aggressive situations
  • Support a safe environment for clients, visitors, and staff

Maintenance (20%)

  • Assist with general facility maintenance
  • Report equipment malfunctions and maintenance concerns
  • Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping duties as required

Reporting & Documentation (20%)

  • Report security incidents, hazards, and irregularities
  • Document and safely dispose of contraband items
  • Follow all facility security procedures and documentation requirements

Other Duties (10%)

  • Work collaboratively with security personnel and staff
  • Attend staff meetings and required training sessions
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Residential treatment facility
  • Combination of security, client supervision, and facility support responsibilities
  • May require shift work, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Minimum of 2 years sobriety
  • Successful completion of annual Criminal Record and Child Welfare Checks
  • Must maintain all required certifications and licensing throughout employment

SALARY:

To be determined upon hire.
