With heartfelt love and sadness, the family of Edward W. Schmidt of Cold Lake, formerly of Ardmore, announces his peaceful passing on June 23, 2026, at the age of 90 years, with his family by his side.
Ed will be dearly missed by his siblings Richard Schmidt, Doreen Hebert, Robert (Lena) Schmidt, Helen (Douglas) Helgeland, and Ella (Sandy) Pokeda; his nephew and close friend Sasha; as well as his many nieces and nephews whom he loved deeply. Edward will be forever remembered by all who knew him — family, friends, and those whose lives were touched by his kindness.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Alice Schmidt; his parents Laura and Fred Schmidt; his sister Pauline Webb; his brother Gordon Schmidt and his loving nephew Brian Hebert.
Ed’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff and residents of the Cold Lake Lodge for the exceptional care, compassion, and friendship shown to him during his time there.
A man of quiet passions and steady hands, Ed found joy in playing the violin and other multiple instruments as well as constructing miniature John Deere tractors, a hobby that brought him both pride and peace. His humour and quick wit, gentle nature, warm presence, and love for simple pleasures will be fondly remembered.
