The County of Vermilion River and the Town of Vermilion have signed a new Fire Services Agreement, formalizing a partnership that officials say builds on more than a century of shared firefighting service.
Announced in a joint media release on June 24, the agreement reinforces both municipalities’ commitment to regional cooperation, public safety and the continued delivery of reliable fire and emergency services.
According to the release, the Town and County have worked together in firefighting for more than 100 years, with formal agreements between the two municipalities in place for nearly three decades.
Officials say the new agreement provides a formal framework that will strengthen collaboration and benefit residents well into the future.
“The County of Vermilion River and the Town of Vermilion would like to thank their respective councils, administration teams, and fire service personnel for their dedication and efforts in developing this agreement,” the release states. “Their commitment to collaboration and public safety has helped establish a formal framework that will benefit residents for years to come.”
The two municipalities also emphasized their shared commitment to maintaining high-quality emergency services across the region.
“Together, both municipalities look forward to continuing their partnership and ensuring that residents receive reliable, responsive, and professional fire and emergency services.”
The media release is jointly endorsed by Town of Vermilion Mayor Robert Snow and County of Vermilion River Reeve Marty Baker, reflecting the collaborative effort between the neighbouring municipalities.
The agreement marks another step in strengthening regional partnerships and ensuring coordinated emergency response for residents of both the Town of Vermilion and the County of Vermilion River.
