Healthcare improvements, school projects, infrastructure investments and economic development were among the achievements highlighted as members of the Bonnyville–Cold Lake–St. Paul United Conservative Party Constituency Association gathered for their annual general meeting.
The event brought together party members from across the riding to review accomplishments, elect a new board of directors and discuss priorities for the future.
According to MLA Scott Cyr, the meeting reflected a sense of optimism and engagement among local members.
“The room was filled with energy, optimism, and a shared commitment to Alberta’s future,” Cyr said.
Regional accomplishments highlighted
During the meeting, members received a six-page constituency report outlining projects and investments that have taken place across the region over the past several years.
Among the initiatives highlighted were:
- Completion of the St. Paul Emergency Department renovation
- Ongoing renovation of the Bonnyville Emergency Department
- Opening of six transition beds at the Cold Lake Healthcare Centre
- Planning for a future Urgent Care Centre in Cold Lake
- Announcement of the Cold Lake South School Solution
- Launch of the University of Calgary Rural Nursing Program in Bonnyville
- Creation of the Northeast Alberta Collegiate Institute (NACI)
- Continued Highway 28 improvements
- Preparations for the Future Fighter Project and F-35 expansion at 4 Wing Cold Lake
- A $1 million provincial grant for the Glendon Arena
- A $750,000 provincial investment in the A.G. Ross Arena in Elk Point
Cyr said those projects were the result of collaboration between municipalities, community organizations, volunteers and residents.
“Every one of these achievements represents countless conversations, meetings, partnerships, and advocacy efforts,” he said.
Constituency association recognized
The association was also recognized for its organizational success within the United Conservative Party.
According to Cyr, the Bonnyville–Cold Lake–St. Paul association was the highest fundraising constituency association in Alberta over the past year.
The riding has also sent the largest delegation to three consecutive UCP annual general meetings.
“Those accomplishments are a direct reflection of the grassroots volunteers who continue to step up year after year,” Cyr said.
New board elected
Members elected a new board of directors during the AGM.
Among the executive positions:
- Mitch Sylvestre was re-elected as President
- Terri Hampson was elected Chief Financial Officer
- Loreen Reynolds was elected Secretary
A number of directors were also elected to the board, with Cyr thanking those willing to volunteer their time to support the organization.
Looking ahead
Cyr said the meeting demonstrated continued engagement among local members and a desire to remain active in discussions affecting the region.
“The excitement, conversations, and enthusiasm in the room made it clear that our association remains strong, united, and ready for the opportunities ahead,” he said.
The AGM concluded with recognition for outgoing board members and volunteers whose contributions helped make the constituency association one of the most active and successful UCP organizations in Alberta.
