It is with profound sadness that the family of Sonia Marie Jacknife announces her unexpected passing on May 29, 2026 at Elizabeth Metis Settlement at the age of 57 years.

Sonia will be forever loved and remembered by her husband, Jason Cardinal; children, Jared Jacknife, Alyx Cardinal, Daniel (Lisa) Jacknife; grandchildren, Natalie, Daniel, Aleah; siblings, Elizabeth Jacknife, Doris Jacknife, Diane Jacknife, Delores Courtepatte, Sophie (Vincent) Jacknife, Dwayne Jacknife, Loretta (Morgan), Leon Jacknife, Dale (Jeanette) Jacknife; mother-in-law, Christine Cardinal; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Sonia was predeceased by her daughter, Leah Cardinal Jacknife; son, Eric Cardinal; parents, Clara and Norman Jacknife; siblings, Vivian, Robert “Bobby”, Richard, Johnny; father-in-law, Edward Cardinal; brother-in-law, Everette Cardinal; nieces and nephews, Derrek, Norman, Robert, Lukas, Morgan and Andrea.

Wake, Monday June 8 (leaving Northern Lights Funeral Chapel, Bonnyville at 11:00 a.m.) & Tuesday June 8, 2026, Elizabeth Settlement Community Hall.

Funeral Service, Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., Elizabeth Settlement Community Hall with interment to follow at the Elizabeth Settlement Community Cemetery.
