In Loving Memory: Daniel Hunter – Memento Funeral Chapel
Daniel John Hunter
With grieving hearts, the family of Daniel Hunter of Cold Lake, Alberta sadly share the sudden passing of their husband, father and son on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at the age of 51 years.
Danny will be forever remembered by his loving wife of 18 years: Laura Hunter; cherished daughters: Rebecca & Natalie; mother: Jacqueline Hunter; father: Richard Spittal; mother-in-law: Laverne Larsen; father-in-law: Leo Larsen; sister-in-law: Trina Larsen; niece: Vonia; nephew: Ivan; as well as many other family members and friends.
Danny was a true lover of life who threw himself into everything he did with unmatched passion and enthusiasm. His early career began in Calgary as a Red Seal Pastry Chef, where he poured his creativity into cooking and baking, always pushing himself to learn and create more — even hosting an unforgettable 13-course dinner for friends.
He later transitioned into Alberta’s oil and gas industry after earning his Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma, spending 10 years working with Imperial Oil in Cold Lake. More recently, Danny discovered what many believe was his true calling when he became a Registered Massage Therapist and opened up a Wellness Centre with his wife. His passion for people, health, and wellness, combined with his skill, dedication, and genuine care for others, quickly made him one of the most respected therapists in the Lakeland region.
Danny had a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and understood. He made friends easily and kept them for life, maintaining close connections with people from around the world to right next door. His daughter often joked that he could make friends with the cab driver.
A true outdoorsman, Danny loved backcountry camping, fishing, hunting, and hiking with his beloved dog, Willow. He also enjoyed playing rugby in his youth, collecting sports memorabilia and coins, spin class, golfing, and running.
In honour of Danny’s wishes, cremation has taken place. All those who feel so moved are welcome to join the family in celebration of Danny’s life on Thursday, June 4, 2026, 11:00 a.m., at the Cold Lake Agricultural Society in Cold Lake, Alberta. Officiant, Pastor Mark MacMillan.
Danny’s impact on his family, friends, clients, and community ran deep and will not be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Stepping Stones Crisis Society, 5305 47 Street, Cold Lake, Alberta T9M 0M5 (www.steppingstonessociety.ca).
In Danny’s memory, be kind and hold your loved ones close.
Respectfully submitted by the family.
