Cold Lake First Nations is advising community members that construction on Phase A of the Open Air Rink Design project is set to begin in early May.
The first phase will focus on site servicing and grading to prepare for the future open air skating rink.
Work will include water and sanitary sewer servicing, site grading, earthworks, culvert installation, swale construction, asphalt paving, excavation, underground utility work and surface restoration.
The project is expected to be completed by July 7, 2026, weather permitting.
Construction will run Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday work may begin at 9 a.m.
Community members should expect increased construction traffic, heavy equipment movement and temporary lane restrictions on roads within Cold Lake First Nations. One lane of travel will remain open where roadwork affects traffic.
Construction signage and safety notices will be posted throughout the project, and dust control measures will be used as needed.
Residents are reminded to stay clear of all construction zones and avoid entering any marked, flagged or barricaded areas. Parents and guardians are also asked to keep children away from the work zone, and pets should be kept clear at all times.
Cold Lake First Nations thanked the community for its patience and cooperation as the project moves ahead.
