The Town of Vermilion is pointing to steady progress, growing investment and a renewed focus on housing and long-term planning in its 2025 Annual Report.
In his message to residents, Mayor Robert Snow framed the year as one of “steady and meaningful progress,” highlighting both economic momentum and the groundwork being laid for the future.
“The past year has been one of steady and meaningful progress for the Town of Vermilion,” Snow said.
Growth and housing taking centre stage
One of the key themes in the report is growth — but with a clear emphasis on balance.
Snow said council has been focused on attracting investment while also addressing a growing need for housing in the community.
“Efforts to attract investment and maximize existing industrial land have been successful, with several businesses choosing to expand their operations in our community,” he said.
“At the same time, Council recognized the growing need for housing and took important first steps toward future development.”
That approach — growing the economy while making sure people have a place to live — is something council has continued to reinforce in recent meetings.
New CAO and a focus on accountability
The report also highlights a major transition in 2025 with the appointment of a new Chief Administrative Officer.
Snow said that change has helped strengthen the Town’s approach to governance and long-term planning.
“Council and Administration share a clear vision for the future, one grounded in sound fiscal planning, transparency, and accountability,” he said.
The report outlines how administration spent much of the year reviewing policies, improving internal processes and building a more stable operational foundation.
Partnerships driving regional momentum
Another major theme is collaboration — both locally and across the region.
Snow pointed to stronger relationships with neighbouring municipalities and partners as a key part of Vermilion’s progress.
“Strong communities are built through collaboration,” he said.
“By working together and sharing ideas, we have pursued opportunities that benefit the broader region while ensuring Vermilion remains an active, engaged, and forward-thinking partner.”
That regional mindset is also reflected in ongoing work with organizations like Community Futures and economic development partnerships across the area.
A year that sets the stage for what’s next
Beyond individual projects, the report positions 2025 as a foundation year — one focused on getting the Town aligned for future growth.
Snow said he’s encouraged by the direction Vermilion is heading and the level of engagement from the community.
“As I reflect on the work completed in 2025, I am encouraged by the direction our community continues to move,” he said.
He also emphasized that progress is being driven by more than just council and administration.
“The commitment shown by Council, Administration, residents, and business owners alike” is what continues to move the community forward.
Looking ahead
With growth, housing and partnerships all front and centre, the Town says it is focused on building a “strong, sustainable, and vibrant future.”
“It is an honour to serve Vermilion,” Snow said, “and I look forward to continuing to work alongside our residents… as we build a strong, sustainable, and vibrant future together.”
The annual report offers residents a snapshot of where the Town has been — and a clear indication of where it is heading next.
