Protective Services members across the region are putting in the work behind the scenes, building the skills needed to respond when it matters most.
Firefighters Train in Real-World Ventilation Scenarios
Firefighters enrolled in the NFPA 1001 program took part in hands-on training Tuesday evening, focusing on ventilation techniques used during structure fires.
Under the guidance of instructors, candidates worked through practical evolutions using roof ladders and both hand and power tools. The training also included a propane prop to simulate more realistic fire conditions, giving firefighters a closer-to-live experience as they refine their approach and decision-making on scene.

Peace Officers Complete Dangerous Goods Course
At the same time, local Peace Officers were in Bonnyville completing the Inspector – Transportation of Dangerous Goods course, hosted by the Province of Alberta’s Dangerous Goods and Rail Safety Unit.
The course focused on regulations surrounding the safe transport of hazardous materials, including explosives, gases, and flammable liquids. The goal is simple: reduce risk to both the public and the environment by ensuring these materials are handled and transported properly.
