St. Paul town council approved a series of small funding requests and shared updates from across the community, highlighting continued local engagement and support for upcoming events.
Council approved $100 in funding for Community Futures Lakeland’s Lemonade Day, an annual program designed to teach youth entrepreneurial skills through running their own small businesses.
A second request — a 50 percent facility rental discount — was approved for the St. Paul RCMP road race, which will take place at the recreation centre.
Both requests were considered under the Town’s community grant funding policy.
Council members also used their reporting time to highlight recent events and ongoing initiatives throughout the region.
Several councillors spoke about attending the St. Paul and District Hospital Foundation’s recent gala, which drew strong community support and continues to raise funds toward a future CT scanner for the hospital.
Other updates included regional meetings, workshops, and ongoing discussions around infrastructure, recreation, and community partnerships.
Council also received several items for information, including upcoming local events and provincial updates.
An invitation was noted for the Ukrainian Dance Club’s 50th anniversary celebration, along with details of a Special Olympics fundraiser scheduled for June 27, which will include a dunk tank in support of local athletes.
A letter from Municipal Affairs was also received, outlining potential changes to municipal governance, including a possible standardized code of conduct across Alberta municipalities.
All items were accepted for information before council moved into a closed session.
