Alberta Open Farm Days is officially looking for hosts for 2026, giving local farms and rural groups a chance to showcase what they do best.

The annual province-wide event, set for August 15 and 16, invites the public onto working farms and ranches to experience agriculture firsthand — and organizers say now is the time for hosts to sign up.

A Focus on Stories from the Land

The 2026 theme, Farm Stories: Rangelands, Grasslands & Pastoralists, will highlight Alberta’s grazing lands, livestock producers and the people behind pasture-based agriculture.

It’s a chance for producers to share their story directly with the public — something that continues to build trust and understanding around where food comes from.

Who Can Host

Organizers are encouraging a wide range of participants to get involved, including:

▪️ Farms and ranches
▪️ Agri-businesses
▪️ Agricultural societies
▪️ 4H clubs
▪️ Rural organizations

Whether it’s a large operation or a small family-run farm, the goal is to connect communities with agriculture in a meaningful way.

Why It Matters

Open Farm Days continues to grow as one of Alberta’s most successful ag-tourism events. By opening their gates, hosts help educate visitors on food production, land stewardship and the role agriculture plays in rural communities.

That connection often leads to stronger local support for producers long after the event is over.

Registration Now Open

Host recruitment is already underway, with a strong push happening now through March. Registration will remain open until April 30, but early sign-up is encouraged to allow time for planning and promotion.
