ROADS – CASUAL SEASONAL (CANADA SUMMER JOBS)
Do you want to make a difference in the Town of Bonnyville? The Town is seeking motivated individuals who enjoy working outdoors, thrive in a team environment, and are willing to take on hands-on work to help maintain municipal infrastructure.
Under the direction of the Public Works Supervisors, the Roads Casual Seasonal position is responsible for performing a variety of manual labour duties in support of Public Works operations.
This position is supported by the Canada Summer Jobs grant program. Applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the start of employment to meet funding eligibility requirements.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License with acceptable abstract.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to perform manual labour, including lifting up to 20 kg.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to perform physically demanding tasks.
Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to Occupational Health & Safety procedures.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in general labour or municipal public works operations.
Experience in road maintenance, utilities, or construction-related work.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform manual labour related to roadways, sidewalks, street signs, and catch basin maintenance.
Assist with maintenance of water and sewer lines, hydrants, and valves.
Support solid waste collection and general Public Works operations.
Perform minor equipment maintenance such as fueling, greasing, and cleaning.
Assist with Town programs and special events, including Canada Day and residential clean-up initiatives.
Work both independently and collaboratively with the Public Works team.
Follow all safety procedures and participate in safe work practices.
Perform other related duties as required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position involves outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Duties include physical activities such as lifting, walking on uneven surfaces, kneeling, crouching, and climbing. The role may require working independently for extended periods.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must meet Canada Summer Jobs eligibility requirements (ages 15–30).
Successful completion of pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing.
Must comply with all Occupational Health & Safety regulations and Town policies.
