Structure Fire Fully Involved South of Vermilion, Crews Remain on Scene for Hours
Fire crews were called to a fully involved structure fire south of the Town of Vermilion Monday evening.
Just after 6:30 p.m., tones dropped for Vermilion Fire & Rescue Society, County Unit 9-1, the Vermilion RCMP detachment, Medavie Health Services West – Northeast Alberta, and ATCO to respond to a reported shop fire in a rural area south of town.
Fully Involved on Arrival
When crews arrived on scene, incident command confirmed the structure was fully involved.
Firefighters immediately pulled attack lines and used foam to knock down the fire, while additional apparatus worked to establish a rural water shuttle to support suppression efforts.
Fire Declared Out Around Midnight
Vermilion Fire Chief Anton Krys reported that the fire was officially declared out by approximately 12:00 a.m.
Crews cleared the scene, returned to the fire hall, and were back in service shortly after.
Cause Under Investigation
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials have confirmed the fire is not considered suspicious.
