Vermilion RCMP Investigating Sudden Death on 52 Avenue
Vermilion RCMP are investigating a sudden death after a 30-year-old man was found deceased at a residence in Vermilion on Tuesday afternoon.
What we know so far
On Jan. 21, 2026, at approximately 12:12 p.m., Vermilion RCMP were called to a home on 52 Avenue after a person discovered the body of a male resident. Police secured the scene and spoke with the individual who made the discovery.
Due to the nature of the incident, the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was called in and has taken carriage of the investigation. The Lloydminster RCMP Forensic Identification Section also attended the scene to assist.
Arrest made, then released
RCMP confirm a male was arrested at the scene but has since been released. No charges have been laid at this time.
Autopsy scheduled
An autopsy is scheduled for Jan. 23, 2026, at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton. Police say further updates are expected once more information becomes available.
RCMP have not released additional details and are continuing their investigation.
