Gavin Harrison Earns Second AJHL Rookie of the Week as Pontiacs Shine League-Wide

Bonnyville rookie leads all AJHL freshmen while multiple Pontiacs earn league recognition

Bonnyville Pontiacs forward Gavin Harrison continues to separate himself as one of the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s most dangerous young players, earning Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week honours for the second time this season.

The 16-year-old Cold Lake product was recognized for the January 12–18 stretch, marking his second Rookie of the Week award of the 2025–26 season, after first earning the title earlier in the year from September 22–28.

Harrison leading all AJHL rookies

Harrison’s latest honour comes after a strong two-game stretch where he posted three goals and four points, extending his point streak to five games.

He recorded a goal and an assist in a road game against Lloydminster on January 14, then followed it up with a two-goal performance in a win over the Devon Xtreme. He was also named Bunge AJHL Player of the Game in that victory.

At the midway point of the season, Harrison now leads all AJHL rookies in scoring, compiling 35 points in 34 games. The Swift Current Broncos (WHL) draft pick continues to show poise, finishing ability, and consistency well beyond his age.

Harrison’s second Rookie of the Week award cements his place among the AJHL’s elite newcomers and reinforces Bonnyville’s reputation as a strong development environment for junior hockey talent.
