Peter “Alex” Hughes Obituary
The family of Peter ‘Alex’ Alexander Hughes of Cold Lake, Alberta, sadly announces his passing on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the age of 79.Born on August 2, 1946, in St. Catharines, Ontario, Alex was raised and educated there. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, serving as an aircraft machinist with postings across Canada and Europe. Alex found joy in golf, pool, fishing, hockey, skeet shooting and appreciating the beauty of nature. Time spent with family and friends was especially meaningful to him.
Alex is lovingly survived by his wife of 25 years, Jennifer Margaret Hughes; his children, Stephen (Grace) Wille, David (Anfisa) Wille, and Rachel Wille; and his grandchildren, Logan (Haley) Wille and Nathan Wille.
He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Margaret Hughes, and his brothers, Arthur and William Hughes.
The family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation for the compassionate care provided by the
doctors, nurses, and staff at Cold Lake Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cherry Grove Recreation & Agricultural Society Hall, Cherry Grove, Alberta.
