Obstetrical services at the Cold Lake Healthcare Centre are fully operational again after Alberta Health Services confirmed physician coverage has been secured and the temporary service advisory has been cancelled.

Services Resumed as of January 5

According to a memorandum dated January 7, 2026, obstetrical services, including C-sections, resumed as planned on January 5 at the Cold Lake Healthcare Centre. The advisory had been issued earlier due to physician coverage challenges.

With coverage now in place, Alberta Health Services says the temporary disruption is officially over.

Commitment to Women’s Health in Cold Lake

In the memo, Adele Richardson, Director of Clinical Operations for Area 8 with Alberta Health Services, alongside Dr. Samuel Ubabukoh, Community Medical Director, emphasized their commitment to ensuring women in Cold Lake continue to have access to necessary care close to home.

AHS also acknowledged the role of surrounding healthcare centres and medical staff who supported patients during the advisory period.
