Community Comes Together to Celebrate Seniors at Cold Lake Christmas Gathering
Despite frigid temperatures outside, the Cold Lake Seniors’ Society Christmas Party was full of warmth, laughter, and community spirit this week.
MLA for Bonnyville–Cold Lake–St. Paul Scott Cyr attended the event and said evenings like this highlight just how important seniors are to the community.
“Gatherings like this highlight just how important our seniors are to the fabric of our community and how much they continue to contribute through their wisdom, volunteerism, and lifelong commitment to Cold Lake,” Cyr said.
The hall was packed, something Cyr said speaks volumes about the strength of the Seniors’ Society and the sense of belonging it creates for members.
“The warmth, laughter, and conversation in the room made it clear that this organization plays a vital role in keeping people connected, supported, and engaged throughout the year,” he said.
Guests enjoyed a turkey supper catered by Joly’s Fine Cuisine, followed by music from G&C DJ Services that kept the evening festive. Cyr said events like this go far beyond food and entertainment.
“Events like this help reduce isolation, strengthen friendships, and ensure seniors continue to feel valued and celebrated in our community,” he said.
Cyr also took time to speak with attendees about recent announcements affecting seniors and families, noting that listening directly to residents remains essential.
“Progress is strongest when it is grounded in listening directly to the people it impacts most,” he said, adding he was glad to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe, healthy holiday season.
He also thanked the Cold Lake Seniors’ Society and its volunteers for the countless hours that go into making events like this possible.
“Your commitment makes a real difference, and our community is stronger because of you,” Cyr said.
Mayor Bob Mattice and members of Cold Lake City Council were also in attendance, joining in the celebration — and even sharing a lighthearted moment with matching Christmas-themed ties.
