Cold Lake Brewing Earns National Recognition with Two Silver Medals
Cold Lake Brewing and Distilling is celebrating national recognition after earning two silver medals at the Canada Beer Cup, one of the country’s most competitive craft beer events.
The awards were presented Nov. 10 in Quebec City, where independently owned breweries from across Canada competed in dozens of style categories.
National Recognition for Local Beers
The Cold Lake brewery earned silver in the Specialty IPA category for its French Bay IPA and another silver in the Fruit Beer category for its Raspberry Wheat Ale. The results build on the brewery’s success at the same competition last year, where it took home two bronze medals.
The recognition reinforces the care and effort that goes into every batch brewed by the team.
The Canada Beer Cup showcases independently owned and operated breweries and supports the Canadian Craft Brewers Association through its annual competition.
Two Beers with Local Roots
The Raspberry Wheat Ale has been part of Cold Lake Brewing’s lineup since the early days of the brewery. The beer has been refined over several years and is inspired by raspberries grown locally, resulting in a bright, fruit-forward ale with balanced sweetness and acidity.

SILVER for Strawberry Rhubarb Lemonade at the 2025 Alberta Beer Awards!
This fruity, fizzy vodka lemonade has been a taproom fave — now it’s award-winning.
The French Bay IPA stands out for its experimental approach. A tropical red IPA, it combines fruit-forward dry hopping with a red ale backbone, delivering bold flavour while remaining approachable and easy to drink.

🏆 SILVER at the 2025 Alberta Beer Awards!
Ou Curb Jumper Hazy IPA came to play — citrusy, hoppy, and dangerously crushable. Taste an award-winner.
Momentum Continues
In 2024, the brewery earned bronze medals for its Amarillo Ale and Rogue Gene Double IPA, adding to its growing list of national accolades.
Kiziak said award recognition has helped drive interest in the brewery, with many visitors seeking out the medal-winning beers.
Looking Ahead
Cold Lake Brewing continues to develop new seasonal and small-batch releases. Upcoming plans include winter beers such as a porter and stout, as well as a Japanese rice lager slated for spring.
The brewery offers a family-friendly space with two patios, including a rooftop patio overlooking the lake, along with a small restaurant, full bar, mocktails, and non-alcoholic options.
Cold Lake Brewing will be closed for the month of January while kitchen renovations are completed, allowing the team to expand its menu in the future.
