Due to extreme cold conditions snowfall, Lakeland area school buses have canceled their routes for December 12, 2025.

At the time of this report, four school divisions: Conseil Scolaire centre-est, Lakeland Catholic, Northern Lights, and St. Paul Education Regional Division are reporting various cancellations.

Extreme Cold Alert for the Lakeland Region

A period of very cold wind chills is expected.

Very cold temperatures and wind chill values near minus 40 continue this morning.

The cold will moderate in some areas this afternoon, but return tonight.

Cold and wind chill values near minus 40 will end by Saturday afternoon.

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.

Dress warmly. Dress in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind resistant.

Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.
