Cold Lake daycare placed on probationary licence following repeated non-compliance

A Cold Lake daycare has been issued a probationary licence after what the province describes as an ongoing history of failing to meet provincial standards.

Happy House Daycare (South) in Cold Lake was placed on probation after inspectors identified multiple safety concerns, including unsafe toys and equipment.

According to the province, the daycare’s capacity was reduced from 310 to 286 spaces in August 2025, ahead of the probationary order. The probationary licence will remain in effect until February 5, 2026, with the facility under close monitoring during that time.
