Two people are facing serious drug and firearm charges after Bonnyville RCMP seized methamphetamine, cash, and a loaded shotgun during a traffic stop earlier this month.
Erratic Driving Leads to Arrests
During proactive patrols, officers observed a vehicle driving erratically in Bonnyville. A traffic stop was conducted, and both occupants were arrested. During a search of the vehicle, police discovered a loaded shotgun, over $6,000 in cash, and a quantity of methamphetamine.
Charges Laid Against Two Suspects
32-year-old Francine Watchmaker of Frog Lake has been charged with:
-
Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
-
Possession of property obtained by crime
-
Unlawful possession of a firearm
-
Careless use of a firearm
-
Failing to comply with a release order
-
Possession of a firearm while prohibited
Watchmaker was remanded into custody following a judicial hearing.
46-year-old Nairy Desaulnier of Cold Lake faces the same set of charges and was released after a hearing to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on October 21.
