Clarification on Bonnyville Friendship Centre Housing Developments
The Bonnyville Friendship Centre is responding to public inquiries to clarify recent information surrounding its two new initiatives — the Homefire Shelter and the Bonnyville Friendship Centre Transitional Home.
Not Low-Income Housing Projects
The Centre wishes to make clear that neither facility is a low-income housing project. Both developments are designed to offer safe, supportive environments for women and children escaping situations of abuse.
Supporting Women and Children in Crisis
The Homefire Shelter provides immediate safety and emergency refuge, while the Transitional Home offers continued support for those who need more time and resources to rebuild their lives after leaving the shelter.
Participants in the Transitional Home will have access to:
- Individual mental health counselling
- Employment readiness programming
- Cultural programming
- Additional wraparound supports
- Expert, Compassionate Care
A specialised team of trained professionals has been assembled to operate these programs. Staff have undergone intensive training and preparation to ensure they can serve clients with the highest level of expertise, compassion, and cultural sensitivity.
These initiatives were developed under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Janet Gobert, whose guidance has been central to their creation and implementation.
For more information or media inquiries, please contact Janet Gobert at the Bonnyville Friendship Centre office.
The Bonnyville Friendship Centre remains dedicated to fostering safety, empowerment, and healing for women and children in our community.
