STEP Seeks Public Input on Rural Transit Options through November Survey

Last Updated: October 28, 2025By

The STEP Economic Development Alliance is asking residents to share their input on rural transportation needs through a public survey open until the end of November. The feedback will help guide a feasibility study exploring possible public transit solutions for the region.

The STEP Alliance is a regional partnership that includes the County of St. Paul, Town of St. Paul, Town of Elk Point, and the Summer Village of Horseshoe Bay. The study aims to identify practical and affordable ways to improve transportation access for residents across these communities.

Paper copies of the survey can be found at several public locations, including the Elk Point and St. Paul FCSS offices, municipal administration buildings, Sunnyside Manor, and the Elk Point Seniors’ Lodge. It is also available online through the St. Paul Regional FCSS website, student portals at Portage College, St. Paul Education, and University nuhelot’ine thaiyots’i nistameyimâkanak Blue Quills, as well as the municipal websites of all participating STEP communities.

The survey, which launched in August, has already received more than 170 responses.

Residents are encouraged to complete the survey before the November 30 deadline. The results will help shape the next steps in evaluating potential transportation services for the St. Paul and Elk Point areas.
